Howard County is part of what is known as Central Maryland, which is in and of itself part of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. It is known for its prosperity, for offering an excellent quality of life, and for its great schools. This is in part due to it having the second-highest median household income of any county in the United States. In terms of recreation, for those that enjoy the outdoors, there are parks, lakes, farms, and zip lines from which to choose from. As far as indoor activities are concerned, there are museums, galleries, and art centers available for your leisure.
