Anne Arundel County is named after Lady Anne Arundell, a member of the ancient family of Arundells in Cornwall, England, and the wife of Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore, founder and first Lord Proprietor of the colony Province of Maryland. Anne Arundel County is home to Annapolis, Maryland’s state capital. With this, comes much to do in terms of recreation. There are numerous parks and trails for those that enjoy the outdoors, as well as malls and casinos for those that prefer to stay inside. To top things off, education is vast via the United States Naval Academy, St. John’s College, and Anne Arundel Community College.
